Ellen Gould White was born to Robert Harmon and his wife Eunice in the small farming community of Gorham, Maine, on November 26, 1827. A few years later, the hard-working family of ten left their farm and moved to the bustling city of Portland, Maine, where Robert took up hat making to support the family.
Coming from these unexceptional beginnings, Ellen's ultimate influence on modern Christian thought and practice is staggeringly profound.
Thought by some to be a prophet, and others too controversial, one thing is certain — Ellen’s love for God led her around the world, inspiring people to reach a deeper understanding of the Bible, drawing them closer to the Savior, while enriching their spiritual and physical well-being.
